Class Procedures & Daily Schedule
Students are expected to be accountable and responsible for their actions, follow the rules, and show respect and kindness towards others at all times. During checkouts, students are free to search the shelves and use the online catalog and find a quiet place to dig into a great book. I enjoy using this time to connect with them individually to learn about their reading habits and interests so that I can effectively help them find that next great book. During instruction, students are expected to sit in their assigned seats and give me their full attention. A library class is 50 minutes long with an average of 25 minutes for checking out books and reader's advisory, and an average of 20-25 minutes for instruction and student engagement. These times are flexible depending on students' needs.

Housekeeping
Please keep in mind that food, drinks and backpacks are not permitted in the Library at any time.
Overdue, lost, or damaged books:
Overdue, lost, or damaged books:
- There is no fine for overdue library books. Just return them as soon as you are able!
- Lost books must be replaced by the end of the school year. Since library books have a special binding, we cannot accept store-bought books as replacements.
- Damaged books will be repaired if possible. If, however, the book has gotten wet, sticky, ripped, chewed, or is otherwise damaged so that repair is not possible, the student’s family will be asked to pay to replace the book.
- Students may log into their Destiny accounts at any time to place a book on hold. Students may only have one Hold at a time. Once a requested book comes in, the student has two weeks to check it out. If the student does not check out the book within two weeks it will go back on the shelf.
- Inter Library Loans are also possible at the request of a faculty or staff member for faculty only. Ms. Seren will contact other librarians in the district and receive the book by courier.
- If a member of the faculty, staff, and/or parent community feels that the content of a book is controversial, questionable, or inappropriate, they are welcome to submit a “Request for re-evaluating library materials” form from the Fort Mill School District.
- A committee comprised of the librarian, principal, and other members of the faculty and staff will review the book(s) and discuss.
- The librarian will research other challenges made to the title and bring this information to the committee.
